STUART'S PANORAMIC WORLD     MASTERTRONIC - WHAT IF?

The random ramblings of a Star Trek-obsessed schools ICT Systems Manager who likes a good moan.
This is a place where I can whinge about life, and express my love of my family, 80's music, retro computer gaming (especially on my Commodore 64),
oh and Star Trek. I'm very open with my opinions and I like a good moan. If you don't like what I say, then you might want to consider not reading this blog.

Songs that remind me of my childhood Number 12 - Sweet Harmony (The Beloved)

Songs that remind me of my childhood Number 12:-

The Beloved - Sweet Harmony

"What's this?" I hear you ask... A 90's song in my list of songs that remind me of my childhood?

Some would say my childhood never ended, although personally as far as I'm concerned my childhood ended on Friday 25th June 1993 - my last GCSE exam AND my last day in compulsary education.

This song (as well as being an awesome tune), will always remind me of my last few months at school. Released in January 1993, this is one of my all time favourite songs. An amazing track, featuring a very 'interesting' video!

Songs that remind me of my childhood Number 11

Songs that remind me of my childhood Number 11:-

PHD - I Won't Let You Down

Not sure what it is about this song that makes me like it so much. It does happen to be one of my earliest memories of 80's music (in that, I mean a song I can actually remember being in the charts when it was released). Released in 1982, I was only 5 years old. You've also got to love music videos that were shot on a budget of a couple of quid!

Enjoy.

Songs that remind me of my childhood Number 10 - Road to Nowhere (Talking Heads)

Songs that remind me of my childhood Number 10:-

Talking Heads - Road to Nowhere

Just plain awesomeness. Not dull, boring, dreary crap you get in the charts today. Great memories from 1985!

Songs that remind me of my childhood Number 9 - The Look Of Love (ABC)

Songs that remind me of my childhood Number 9:-

ABC - The Look Of Love

Quite possibly one of the defining moments of 80's music, this song will always remind me of my early childhood. It doesn't remind me of any specific memory, but the cheerful lyrics, the comicy video (is comicy even a word) is enough to make me wish it was the 1980's all over again.

Songs that remind me of my childhood Number 8 - Invisible Touch (Genesis)

Songs that remind me of my childhood Number 8:-

Genesis - Invisible Touch

When I was young, my parents would quite often take me and my sister to Leigh-On-Sea, and we'd then walk along the seafront to Southend, stopping off at various pubs along the way (where I would spend many pennies on arcade hits like Pac-Land, Hard Drivin', Commando and Paperboy - thanks Mum and Dad!). It was really enjoyable, and even to this day, when I take my family back home to visit Laindon, we still do the walk. Anyway, this song always reminds me of the walk because when it came out, it was practically the only song being played in all the pubs we went in!

Songs that remind me of my childhood Number 7 - Stop (Erasure)

Songs that remind me of my childhood Number 7:-

Erasure - Stop

People who know me well will know what a big Erasure fan I am. Although I had heard and liked their previous songs, "Stop" is probably the song that made me really like the group and showed me just how good their music was compared to what was on offer in the charts back in 1988. However, it was a few years later when I really became a fan and followed them more. It is also quite appropriate that I choose this song today because the postman has just delivered my copies of the newly released "Wonderland" and "The Circus" 3 disk remastered editions.

Anyway, this song always reminds me of Christmas 1988, and once again I remember it being on a compilation tape my sister made me for me.
